If your objective is to do nothing at all, that’s ok too. Simply kick back and relax on the beautiful golden sands at any of the palm-fringed beaches while soaking up the tropical Queensland sun.
The Magnetic Island ferry travels to and from the island all day long so you’ll be able to book your ticket online then head out from the Breakwater Ferry Terminal in Townsville at a flexible time that best fits your schedule. See what all the fuss is about by booking your trip on the Magnetic Island ferry today and get a dose of fun in the sun amongst a spectacular reef environment that you can enjoy however you see fit.
Boarding ramps are covered in an all weather non slip material, vessel cabins have waterproof carpet and outdoor areas on vessel are metal with non slip paint.
The dedicated accessible/disability car parking spaces are located approximately 40m from the Breakwater Terminal entrance in Townsville. The car park is concrete and there is a slight incline up a graduated ramp then the remaining area is paved to the front door. If arriving by bus, it will stop at the front of the terminal so guests will arrive to the paved area. If arriving by private vehicle or taxi, there is also a slight incline up a graduated ramp onto the paved area and this is approximately 30m from the Breakwater Terminal entrance.

Great fun! Absolutely beautiful island! Perfect weather! Perfect beaches! Great food available everywhere. Great for family. Great for outdoor fun and connecting with nature. Marine life in abundance. Regular ferries. Bus timetables makes public transport a great option.

Easy 20 minutes cruise to Magnetic Island where you can get a daily ticket to the bus and explore the whole island.
So much to do and see around the island! I found 3 koalas on the forts track and even though it was not the season I saw many butterflies at butterfly forest. You can also hand feed lots of rock wallabies near alma bay. The view between the ferry and picnic bay is breathtaking.

What a fantastic day
What a fantastic day! Absolutely amazing! Myself and my girlfriend booked the return ferry for the day and purchased the €7 all day island bus pass (where you can hop on and hop off at different bays on the island). We managed to visis 4 of the bays during the day. We saw 5 wild koalas on the fort track and carried on to explore the WW2 forts which was great as you got incredible views of Arthur Bay! We fed wild rock wallabies (carrot and sweet potato- do not feed them human food!) You can purchase some wallaby food near by if you want but we just fed them some chopped up carrot. We saw 2 stingrays in the clear waters down at rock wallaby. If we were to do the island again, we would recommend hiring a car or moped for the day, as we had to be back in time for the next bus which runs every hour. We then went to Horseshoe bay to have a swim and to watch the sunset it was gorgeous! Overall magnetic island was magnificent! If you are visiting Townsiville you HAVE to visit magnetic island... it's a must!
